50 Extremely Useful And Powerful CSS Tools

December 10th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in CSS, Websites

img-520-50_powerful

We love useful stuff. For months, we have been bookmarking interesting, useful and creative CSS tools and related resources. We have been contacting developers, encouraging them to improve their tools and release their handy little apps to the public. Last year we prepared and published some of them in a series of smashing posts about CSS. Now again is the time to give these tools the attention they deserve. Big thanks to all designers and developers who contributed to the design community over the last months and years. We — our community and the design community — truly appreciate your efforts.

Meet Asero!

Here’s my new phone which only arrived yesterday. A Nokia e71, which is a part of Nokia e-series family. Right now, he’s on charging state so can’t make a review at this time. But what I’ve known so far, the coolest feature of this phone is the GPS, “Hey! Look mom, that’s our house!”.

Oh yes, e-series means business.

WordPress 2.6.5

November 26th, 2008 | 2 Comments | Posted in WordPress

There is not and never will be a version 2.6.4

Just woke up this afternoon, checked my emails and other social networking website I have when suddenly a post from Mr. Bob Reyes on Multiply caught up my attention, it reads, “WordPress 2.6.5 is out now!”

Upon checking Wordpress.org, here’s the development update of the said released:

The security issue is an XSS exploit discovered by Jeremias Reith that fortunately only affects IP-based virtual servers running on Apache 2.x. If you are interested only in the security fix, copy wp-includes/feed.php and wp-includes/version.php from the 2.6.5 release package.

2.6.5 contains three other small fixes in addition to the XSS fix. The first prevents accidentally saving post meta information to a revision. The second prevents XML-RPC from fetching incorrect post types. The third adds some user ID sanitization during bulk delete requests. For a list of changed files, consult the full changeset between 2.6.3 and 2.6.5.

Note that we are skipping version 2.6.4 and jumping from 2.6.3 to 2.6.5 to avoid confusion with a fake 2.6.4 release that made the rounds. There is not and never will be a version 2.6.4.

And I asked myself.. “should I downgrade?”

Multiple Zinio Subscriptions in One Account

November 25th, 2008 | 7 Comments | Posted in Websites

From my previous article Free Shutterbug Photography MagazineRead Green Initiative allows only one email account. What you do is sign-up another email address multiple times just to get all of their free digital magazine subscriptions. Why waste of time if there’s a good way on how to get multiple subscriptions using one account? Thanks to Jeff of Too Much Few, for the great tip!

How To Get Multiple Zinio Subscriptions using One Account?

  1. 1. Open a Notepad or any text file application, copy and paste the link “http://www.zinio.com/delivery?issn=ipho-life&of=green&contacts_email=dsadsada” without the quotes (we will use this later)
  2. 2. Login your account on Zinio.com
  3. 3. Open a new tab/browser then visit Read Green Initiative website free subscription page
  4. 4. Choose your free magazine but don’t click on it, we will use another method instead of typing your fake email addresses on the subscription window.
  5. 5. For example, on the image below I choose Layers, right-click on it then click on Properties.
  6. 6. A properties window will appear, if you use Firefox then it will be easy for you to do this. Look for the image url on Location under Image Properties and copy that link (e.g. http://www.zinio.com/img?issn=LayersR-003&size=155)
  7. img-520-howto_freemag_1

  8. 7. Now let’s go back to your Notepad, and paste the link there. Don’t overwrite the previous link or else you might get lost. We now have two links on a separate lines
  9. http://www.zinio.com/delivery?issn=ipho-life&of=green&contacts_email=dsadsada

    http://www.zinio.com/img?issn=LayersR-003&size=155

  10. 8. Bold letters are the values of your free magazine subscription, just copy the LayersR-003 and replace ipho-life. Copy and paste the new link on your browser. That’s it, you will now have your new free magazine subscription on your MyLibrary page. Just repeat the steps and you will have multiple free digital magazines!
  11. img-520-howto_freemag_1

You may check out other free digital magazine subscriptions at Zinio.com.

Note: You must only put the values before "&of" and after "issn="
in order for this to work properly.

  • PSD to XHTML: Importance of Browser Compatibility

The increasing importance of PSD to XHTML conversion cannot be negated. It is an intrinsic part of Website Designing and holds a heavy weightage.

  • Don’t Promise Me Cross-browser Support

A big mistake that most PSD to XHTML services are making is promising cross-browser support for their clients. Cross-browser means the website you coded will render perfectly in all browsers since its release.

  • Tips to Choose Right PSD to XHTML Firm

There have been posts about top PSD to HTML providers. One of this kind of post you could find in our blog too, lol. So, today we thought of providing something more useful, more exact and more valuable to our readers.

  • An Overture with HTML 5

With the passage of time, the versions of HTML start becoming obsolete. The daily up-gradation in the formats of creating a website gradually pushed the boundaries of HTML 4.

  • Why do firms Order PSD to XHTML Conversion Online

LPG (Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization) comes with its share of benefits for doing business globally. Internet however, recognized its LPG benefits way back, with its increasing (and still emerging) scope and trend.

  • Necessity of a Clean Markup

With the changes in the web world, we need to evolve and imbibe the new approaches. The pressures of meeting the deadlines for delivering each requirement are increasing day by day.

  • Worst Designs Are Big Help

Gone are the days when people used to stress more on the theoretical knowledge of any subject. These days, practical explanations and experiments are taking the ground.

  • 20 Best PSD to HTML Service Providers

Converting design files (PSD, PNG, AI etc) to high quality, cross-browser compatible valid top-notch XHTML/ CSS semantic markup manually has never been easy, as it takes lot of time and precision.
